WHITEHALL TWP., Pa.- It’s full steam ahead for a senior living community’s plan to expand in Whitehall Township.
Fellowship Community expects to break ground this summer on one of three luxury apartment buildings on its 65-acre campus at the intersection of Mauch Chunk Road and Schadt Avenue.
69 News previously reported on the project as it was going through the township approval process last year.
The project is being called the Suites at Fellowship Community.
According to a new release, each building will have 24 apartments ranging in size from 1,050 to 1,450 square feet and will feature smart home technology. Floorplan options include one-bedroom with a den and 1.5 baths, two-bedrooms with two baths, and two-bedrooms plus a den with two baths.
“We have a waiting list for our independent living townhomes and apartments. Creating a much-needed expansion is our solution to provide an opportunity for others to enjoy living at Fellowship Community,” said President and CEO Mary Kay McMahon.
Presale for the new apartments is already underway. Construction on the first building is expected to wrap next year.
Future plans include a maker’s space for artists and craftsmen, as well as a theatre for movies and performances.
Fellowship Community, a faith-based continuing care retirement community, has roots that go back to the early 1900s. It offers options for independent living, personal care, short- and long-term skilled nursing care, short-term rehabilitation, and memory care.
